We are very pleased to announce our commitment to the Governments carbon reduction agenda with Board approval of our Carbon Reduction Policy and Action Plan.

Our Carbon Reduction Policy reads as follows;

To meet the Government drive for Net Zero by 2050 and the global commitment to limit global warming by 1.5 degrees, exi-group fully support the national and international commitments to achieve these targets. In response exi have provided a Carbon Reduction policy to drive exi Group to net Zero by 2030.

Our drive and commitment to deliver this will require some changes, however, most of them will be subtle and will not alter the way we do business but will positively change our culture and approach to the services we deliver.

Net Zero is good for business. Firstly, we must lead by example on all the commissions we deliver and make climate conscious decisions. Our clients expectations are changing and are making more ethical decision on their supply chain. Our policy and action plan will give our clients confidence we can deliver through our own experience. This will enhance our reputation in the marketplace and may open up new opportunities. The changes we make will result in cutting costs and increasing profits, making exi group more sustainable.

The policy applies to all employees of exi together, where appropriate, with all contractors and temporaries working for the Company or on the Company’s premises.

This policy and carbon reduction action plan will be reviewed annually against the net zero target.

In order to put this policy into practice, exi will:

Produce a Carbon Reduction Action Plan in accordance with the Cabinet Office PPN06/21 Procurement Policy Note – Taking Account of Carbon Reduction Plans in the procurement of major government contracts that will address the Green House Gas Protocol Standard categorises emissions into three scopes:

  • Scope1 – Direct emissions that result from activities within your organisation’s control (Refrigerant losses and company vehicles)
  • Scope 2  – Indirect emissions from any electricity, heat or steam purchased and used.
  • Scope 3  – Any other indirect emissions from sources outside our direct control such commuting and business travel.

The Carbon Reduction Action Plan will address the following:

  • Measure our base line carbon footprint and against year-on-year reduction to track our progress in tCO2e.
  • Capture interim carbon reduction targets year on year to allow the business to stay on track to Net Zero by 2030.
  • Set actions against the plan.
  • Purchase Green Energy where possible.
  • Making changes to how we run our office to make it more energy efficient.
  • Purchasing energy efficient appliances and equipment.
  • Reduce our business travelling and use greener modes of transport where possible.
  • Continue to implementing agile office working practices to improve our work /life balance, make us more productive and reduce our commuter travel.
  • Procure local supplies and products for our office and for our people.
  • Purchasing carbon off set credits to allow us reach zero.

It is the responsibility of all employees to adopt this policy as it benefits our clients, is good for business, enhances our reputation and makes exi group more sustainable.

We expect our employees to commit to the Carbon Reduction Action Plan and support our drive to zero. We expect our employees to make climate conscious decisions on behalf of our customers, for the exi group and in their everyday lives.
