  • To meet the Government drive for Net Zero by 2050 and the global commitment to limit global warming by 1.5 degrees, exi-group fully support the national and international commitments to achieve these targets. In response exi have provided a Carbon Reduction policy to drive exi Group to Net Zero Carbon by 2050.
  •
  • To meet the targets in the Carbon Reduction Policy this Carbon Reduction Plan offers the business a road map to reach Net Zero setting a baseline in 2024 with a pragmatic route to achieving this goal.
  • This roadmap and overall reduction plan has been prepared in accordance with the Cabinet Office PPN06/21 Procurement Policy Note.

exi Group is committed to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2050.

Baseline emissions are a record of the greenhouse gases that have been produced in the past and were produced prior to the introduction of any strategies to reduce emissions. Baseline emissions are the reference point against which emissions reduction can be measured.

  • In order to continue our progress to achieving Net Zero, we have adopted the following carbon reduction targets.
  •
  • We project that our Scope 1-3 carbon emissions will decrease over the next five years to 58.93 tCO2e by 2030. This is a reduction of 15% from baseline 2024-25 data. Our current baseline year data and the progress required to achieve this reduction can be seen in the graph below:

Stepped reductions towards net zero by 2050 is provided above. Scopes 1-3 emissions will be reduced by 90% from the 2024-25 baseline with any residual emissions neutralised to achieve net zero.

  • The following environmental management measures and projects have been completed or implemented since the 2024-25 baseline.
  • The impact of these measures has not been quantified as Scopes 1-3 emissions was not calculated prior to the 2024-25 financial year.
  • Agile working – exi Group have implemented an agile working initiative which supports a healthy work / life balance.
  • Reducing our business travel – exi Group promote the use of on-line conference calls to deliver efficiency within our business and reduce the amount of business and commuter milage created by face-to-face meetings. This again has contributed to a reduction on our carbon footprint as well as our supply chain.
  • Office (Scope 1 and 2) emissions are aligned with UKGBC Net zero carbon benchmark for existing offices
  • Robust reporting of Scope 3 emissions is in place via the Sage HR expense system for all business travel

As per our Carbon Reduction Action Plan, in the future we hope to implement further measures such as:

Energy efficient boiler plant controls – exi Group will review the energy bills from the previous 12 months in line with LETI best practice benchmarks.

  • Who owns this action? – exi Group Net Zero Cross cutting working group
  • How will it be measured? – Benchmarked against LETI data for best-practice office buildings.

Green Energy – exi Group will investigate the opportunity of purchasing electricity sourced from renewable generation to service the office to reduce the burden on fossil fuels.

  • Who owns this action? – exi Group Net Zero Cross cutting working group
  • How will this be measured? – New signed green energy provider agreement.

Low carbon technology – exiGroup will review the return on investment of installing solar PV panels and battery storage to provide on-site renewable generation to reduce both emissions and energy bills

  • Who owns this action? – exi Group Net Zero Cross cutting working group – exi Building Services to review potential installation solutions and costs. exi cost to undertake ROI calculations to allow once ROI is viable.
  • How will this be measured? – Once implemented improvements will be measured via energy bills and carbon calculator

Energy Efficient Equipment –All new equipment, when renewed, will be purchased with an A rating or above in energy efficiency.

  • Who owns this action? – exi Group Net Zero Cross cutting working group & exi Business Managers
  • How will this be measured? –  100% of renewed equipment will be A rated or above at the point of order. Improvements will be captured in energy bills and carbon calculator.

Procurement –Where possible, exi Group will purchase supplies and equipment for the office and our people from local suppliers within 30 miles to reduce our carbon impact on the supply chain. This will be measured at the point of order.

  • Who owns this action? exi Group Net Zero Cross cutting working group & exi Business Managers
  • How will this be measured? –  100% of supplies for the office and staff will be within a 30-mile radius of Berkeley Road at the point of order.

Green Business Travel – If business travel must be taken, exi Group will promote the use of environmentally modes of transport, such as car sharing, trains and trams to reduce congestion on the roads. The modes of transport will be captured in revised monthly business travel returns.

  • Who owns this action? – exi Group Net Zero Cross cutting working group & exi Business Managers
  • How will this be measured? – Modes of transport will be captured in monthly returns and captured in biannual carbon calculation.

EV Usage – Acknowledging that public transport is not suitable for all journeys, exi Group will promote the use of electric vehicles.

  • Who owns this action? – exi Group Net Zero Cross cutting working group & exi Group Executive Board
  • How will this be measured? – Measured benefit

Net Zero Certification – Certification by a 3rd Party (e.g. Carbon Trust) via PAS 2060 or an equivalent which is the internationally recognised specification for carbon neutrality and builds on the existing PAS 2050 environmental standard. It sets out requirements for quantification, reduction and offsetting of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions for organisations, products and events. There will be an assessment and certified calculations by 3rd party for exi Group to become Net Zero Certified.

  • Who owns this action? – exi Group Net Zero Cross cutting working group
  • How will this be measured? – Completed certification before 2050

This Carbon Reduction Plan has been completed in accordance with PPN 006 and associated guidance and reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans.
Emissions have been reported and recorded in accordance with the published reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans and the GHG Reporting Protocol corporate standard[i] and uses the appropriate Government emission conversion factors for greenhouse gas company reporting[ii].
Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions have been reported in accordance with SECR requirements, and the required subset of Scope 3 emissions have been reported in accordance with the published reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans and the Corporate Value Chain (Scope 3) Standard[iii].

This Carbon Reduction Plan has been reviewed and signed off by the executive directors
